Little Warriors is proud to share that our CEO, Dr. Wanda Polzin Holman, participated in a Parliamentary committee hearing as part of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage’s study on the Effects of Influencers and Social Media Content on Children and Adolescents. Dr. Polzin Holman was invited to offer expert testimony on the risks emerging from online environments and their impact on children’s safety and well-being.
Drawing on her clinical expertise and the work we do every day at the Be Brave Ranch, Dr. Polzin Holman highlighted growing concerns related to influencer-driven content, algorithmic exposure, sextortion, online grooming, and digitally altered images such as deepfakes. She emphasized the urgency of strengthening prevention supports, improving digital literacy, and ensuring more consistent sentencing for offences involving child sexual exploitation.
“Children and teens are facing harms in online spaces at a pace that outstrips our current protections. We see the impact of this every day at the Be Brave Ranch. It is critical that we strengthen prevention, equip caregivers with tools to navigate the digital world, and ensure meaningful consequences for those who exploit children,”
