This May, the Annual Be Brave Luncheon came to life in two cities, and the impact was felt in every room.
On May 6th in Edmonton and May 8th in Calgary, hundreds of supporters, sponsors, and community members gathered to face the truth about child sexual abuse and recommit to doing something about it. The energy in both rooms was undeniable, and it was because of you.
This year's keynote speaker, Elizabeth Smart, delivered a message that stopped rooms full of people in their tracks. She reminded us that protection begins long before harm occurs, with education, with open conversations, and with adults who choose to believe children when they come forward. Her words weren't just inspiring. They were a charge.
One of the most powerful moments of the luncheons came from a Be Brave Ranch graduate named Luka. She stood before a room full of strangers, shared her story with courage and grace, and performed an original song she wrote "World Worth Fighting For". But it was a quiet moment she described from her time at the Ranch that stopped everyone cold: when a fellow participant said she didn't feel healed, Luka offered her one small word. Yet. It's not working yet. You aren't healed yet.
It's not working yet. You aren't healed yet.
That word holds everything we do at Little Warriors. It transforms a feeling of being stuck into a journey forward. And it speaks to all of us: we haven't reached every child who needs us yet. But with a community like this behind us, yet feels closer every single day.
To our sponsors, guests, and everyone who showed up in person or in spirit, thank you. Because of your generosity, more children and families will find their way to healing.
